KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Kansas Speedway announced on Monday that Johnny Dare and members of the former popular "Johnny Dare Morning Show" on 98.9 The Rock, will serve as grand marshals for Sunday's NASCAR Cup Series race, Hollywood Casino 400.
Dare announced back in May that he and his team were being let go after 32 years as part of widespread layoffs at Audacy radio stations.
“Johnny Dare is not just a Kansas City voice — he’s a true Kansas City icon,” Kansas Speedway President Pat Warren said in a news release. “From his charity efforts to his connection with listeners, he embodies the spirit of this city. We’re thrilled to have him and his crew deliver the command to start engines for one of the most anticipated races of the season.”
Dare is also known for extensive charity work in the
