CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) - Multiple families in the United States are suing artificial intelligence platforms for the role they claim the technology played in the deaths of their teenage children.

CBS News reports the mother of 16-year-old Adam Raine, who died by suicide in April, testified before Congress that OpenAI’s ChatGPT became a “suicide coach” for her son.

OpenAI has pledged to roll out new safeguards to protect teens, including parental controls.

It’s a reason to check in with children and teens who may turn to social media or AI when battling mental health concerns.
