A devastating fire in Long Beach has left the community reeling after 32 cats and one dog lost their lives early Sunday morning. The blaze broke out around 7:15 a.m. inside the Lindenwood Apartment Complex on Linden Avenue near East Wardlow Road, according to the Long Beach Fire Department.
When firefighters arrived, they encountered heavy smoke on the third floor and traced it to a single apartment unit. Crews acted quickly, containing the fire before it spread further through the building.
