FARMINGTON, Conn. — The American Red Cross and the Connecticut Division of Emergency Services and Public Protection urged residents Monday to be prepared during peak hurricane season.
The Red Cross Connecticut and Rhode Island CEO Richard Branigan said although this hurricane season has been calm for Connecticut, it doesn’t mean things can’t quickly change.
The state Department of Emergency Management and Homeland Security said Connecticut’s busiest tropical storm season historically is from the end of August to the end of October.
Branigan said people having emergency plans for their households could save lives.
“Grab a couple of extra things. Put them in a bag. Make copies of your sensitive documents, have extra medication available, know where it is," Branigan said.
