MISSOULA — After finishing at 13th at the Class AA state race as a sophomore, Bozeman’s Miles Halvorsen appeared primed for a junior-year leap up to the podium. However, a lung infection kept the runner from finding his stride.

“Even when I was physically better,” Halvorsen told 406 MT Sports Saturday, “I was still coughing and not able to push myself.”

Halvorsen sat out of the 2024 Mountain West Classic. He did race the UM golf course at the AA state race last fall, placing seventh. With a full offseason of rest and conditioning under him, though, the senior is ready to make up for lost time. He won the Mountain West Classic at the UM Golf Course with a time of 15 minutes, 17.2 seconds.
