STATEN ISLAND, N.Y.— There was nothing that could separate two of the PSAL’s best early-season teams on Monday evening, as the Tottenville Pirates and New Dorp Centrals played to an enthralling 1-1 draw that now gives both teams identical 4-0-1 records.
In a defensive battle that remained scoreless deep into the match, the two squads traded control throughout, but with under five minutes to go, Tottenville striker Darden Anamali latched onto a long ball from goalkeeper Konrad Leja and slotted home what seemed to be the decisive goal.
