AKRON, Ohio – Recent calls by some Ohio residents to eliminate property taxes have prompted Summit County Executive Ilene Shapiro and Summit County Council to approve legislation to place a property tax limitation charter amendment on the November ballot.

If voters approve the measure, the Summit County Charter will be amended to place a limitation on unvoted property taxes under the charter to 2.2 mills and prohibit the increase of property taxes greater than 3% annually in aggregate, according to the Summit County Board of Elections website.
