Not one but two 6-foot-tall metal roosters vanished from the Longmont area in one week.

The first rooster disappeared from the area of 17th Avenue and Lashley Street in northeast Longmont on Sept. 1, the owner of the bird told the Times-Call.

A few days later, a poultry pilferer struck again.

Just a few miles away, a second bird was taken from its home in the 11000 block of Quail Road between South Martin Street and North 119th Street just southeast of Longmont, according to a Boulder County Sheriff’s Office post.

These birds aren’t cheap. The Tractor Supply Company website lists the decorations for an original price of nearly $200.

It is unknown if the thefts were related or if there is more than one rooster rascal.
