WILLIAMSPORT — A Williamsport police officer has settled for $135,000 a federal lawsuit over his use of a racial slur before taking a Black man into custody early on Dec. 31, 2023.

Officer Brandon Wheeler denied any liability according to the terms of the settlement reached through mediation that PennLive obtained Monday.

The city provided representation for Wheeler in the suit filed in the U.S. Middle District Court by Quincey Myers of Williamsport, who was never charged.
