CLACKAMAS, Ore. (KPTV) — Due to the increasing demand for food assistance combined with funding cuts, the Clackamas Service Center (CSC)’s warehouse is at risk of shutting down.

CSC’s warehouse is where many local schools, churches and other organizations go to restock their own food pantries. But the nonprofit told FOX 12 it’s worried it won’t be able to afford to keep the doors open.

“Last year, we were seeing about 50 individuals coming to get hot meals and now we’re seeing about 300 coming to our service center every day,” said Celess Roman, CSC Interim Executive Director.

Sticker shock at the grocery store and federal cuts to programs like SNAP are forcing more families to seek out help. This means food assistance resources like CSC are seeing a higher demand for services.
