Lucknow: The fear of cancer returning—known as " fear of cancer recurrence " (FCR) — continues to disturb breast cancer survivors even after their treatment is over, said experts.

Speaking at the "Breast Update 2025" conference held at KGMU, they emphasised that counselling, family therapy and psychosocial support can help reduce its impact.

A study presented at the event involved 700 breast cancer survivors screened between Jan and April 2021 and again between May and Sept 2023. Data analysed using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS), showed the average age of survivors was 48 years.
