After leaving tonight’s game mid-at-bat in the third inning against the Washington Nationals, the Atlanta Braves announced that second baseman Ozzie Albies has a fractured hamate bone in his left hand.
The injury not only ends Albies season but puts his future with the organization in doubt. The Braves have a $7M option for 2026 that includes a $4M buyout, but after missing the end of last season with an issue with his left wrist – the results of which lingered well into the 2025 season – another injury and the length of recovery for it could impact Atlanta’s decision on the option.
This season had been a disappointing one for Albies, who struggled for the first-half of the season before seeming to re-find his offensive form in July.
