ATLANTA — The lead investigator in the 2020 shooting death of 8-year-old Secoriea Turner will be back on the stand Monday morning as the trial for her accused killer continues.

Turner was shot and killed five years ago in the backseat of a car while her mom and mom's friend were trying were trying to navigate a blockade set up near the burned-out Wendy's that had been the site of fierce protests against the police killing of Rayshard Brooks weeks earlier.

The accused shooter in the 8-year-old's death, Julian Conley, is on trial. Proceedings began last week .

A second suspect, Jerrion McKinney, pleaded guilty before the trial began and received 20 years in prison.

Already in this trial, Turner's mom has taken the stand to give emotional testimony.
