Eight significant steps have been made by the state administration to improve security infrastructure at popular tourist destinations in Odisha after the U.S. travel advice for India was reissued in June 2025, citing worries about crime and safety in the state. These measures have been put in place to protect visitors and improve Odisha’s reputation as a safe vacation destination, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi told the state parliament on Monday.
In a written reply to a question by Bhawanipatna (SC) MLA Sagar Charan Das, the Chief Minister stated that the eight measures being taken are:
Regular police patrolling and deployment of police personnel at tourist sites.
Intensified night checks.
Installation of CCTV cameras on key approach roads.
Joint enforcement with the Excise Depart
