TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - The Trump administration has made it clear for pregnant women to avoid Tylenol.

In a press conference on Monday, President Donald Trump and Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy discussed studies they believe show an association between pregnant women taking acetaminophen, or Tylenol, and their child’s autism.

East Texas physicians say the data points to an association, not a clear cause of neurological disorders.

“Tylenol has been a staple for pain control and fever control in pregnancy,” said Dr. Daren Yeager, a UT Health OBGYN. Yeager points to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists’ statement identifying acetaminophen, or Tylenol, as one of the only safe pain relievers for pregnant individuals.
