On Sept. 13, unbeaten Golden West shellacked a depleted Hancock football squad 55-0 at Golden West.

Saturday, the Bulldogs at least as healthy as they've been since opening week, controlled things most of the way and beat winless Santa Ana 39-20 at Hancock in both teams' Northern League opener.

The Bulldogs moved to 2-2, 1-0. The Dons are 0-4, 0-1. Saturday marked the second time in memory that the Bulldogs responded after a loss by more than 50 points with a win the following week. In 2004, Hancock beat Bakersfield 22-17 after losing 51-0 at College of the Canyons the previous week.
