A public meeting in Jeffersontown turned contentious as city officials discussed a proposal to rezone residential properties along Old Taylorsville Road for commercial use. The plan aims to boost economic opportunities by connecting the town center to the amphitheater currently under construction. However, many residents are pushing back, expressing concerns about potential changes to their neighborhood's character.
Mayor Carol Pike explained her vision for the rezoning, describing it also as an option for homeowners to increase the value of their properties.
"It was nothing wrong with having a boutique or a wine bar. It's already there. It's not like I'm trying to break the block," Pike said.
