BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - A new report is amplifying the voices of Baton Rouge students and shedding light on what they say are the biggest challenges and opportunities inside their schools.

The findings come from the Baton Rouge Alliance for Students, which surveyed 500 middle and high schoolers from 19 schools, including traditional public, magnet, charter, and private campuses.

Students pointed to barriers in accessing a high-quality education, as well as the need for stronger community support. The report highlights several key areas:

72% of students said having “great teachers” is the most important factor in their school community.

Nearly half of the students identified a need for more mental health resources.
