PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) - The Peoria Chiefs season is over, but Monday marked the beginning of a massive off-season project.
Dozer Park will be installing a new playing surface, requiring the removal of over 100,000 square feet of sod.
More than 1,200 tons of material will be used to improve the grass, install a brand new irrigation system, and implement the warning track.
The club's general manager Jason Mott says the project has been in the works for two years, and even he was initially surprised at the scale of the proposal.
