SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) -Florida will see the usual late-day showers and storms this week, mainly inland and across the south. The days will stay hot and humid with “feels-like” temperatures near 100 to 105. A cold front arrives over the weekend but stalls in north central Florida, boosting rain chances here Saturday and Sunday, but it won’t bring cooler fall-like air.
In the tropics, Hurricane Gabrielle, which became a major hurricane yesterday, passes east of Bermuda, while two other Atlantic systems are being watched. One could become a depression by midweek, and another may strengthen later this week near the Bahamas, bringing gusty winds and heavy rain to the Leeward Islands and Puerto Rico. This second one will have to be watched closely as it is too early to know what impacts, if any
