LOUISVILLE, Ky. —
An escaped inmate from Ohio is back behind bars this morning after nearly a week on the run.
Jerry Cooper was taken into custody in Louisville by the FBI after leading authorities on a multi-state manhunt. Cooper, who is accused of attempted murder, was being held in Mason County, Kentucky on Tuesday following his capture late Monday night.
Law enforcement officials say Cooper and another man, Roy Butler, broke a window at the Brown County Adult Detention Facility in Ohio and managed to scale a fence to escape. Butler was captured less than a day later, but Cooper remained on the run for more than five days. Authorities described him as armed and dangerous, and there were multiple sightings of him during that time.
