I've been thinking about this episode since the death of Charlie Kirk, which has sparked a wave of GOP attacks against people who allegedly made light of Kirk's murder. Teachers, professors, pilots, medical professionals and — most recently — late-night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel have been fired or suspended for their comments about Kirk.
But Republicans — including Charlie Kirk — mocked the attack on Paul Pelosi, too. And now they want to penalize the same kinds of remarks they made.
