Students have been told to 'check their accounts' as payments worth hundreds were made across the country yesterday, September 22. The Student Loans Company (SLC) has paid out its first instalment of maintenance loans.
Around 440,000 students are set to receive the payments, with the company paying out £1.2bn in maintenance loans - the biggest payment of the academic year so far - as students return to university across the country.
SLC is encouraging students to log-in to their online account to track their application and payment progress.
Payments are released to students when their university or college confirms that they have registered/enrolled.
