TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA)—Hurricane Gabrielle is a Category 4 hurricane as it moves into the open central Atlantic, the National Hurricane Center announced.
Located about 305 miles east-northeast of Bermuda, Gabrielle is moving toward the northeast at about 13 mph.
According to the NHC, a faster northeastward to east-northeastward motion is expected through Thursday.
Gabrielle will continue to move away from Bermuda today.
Maximum sustained winds are near 140 mph with higher gusts, the NHC said.
On the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale, Gabrielle is a Category 4 hurricane.
Gabrielle is expected to gradually weaken during the next couple of days, the NHC said.
There are no coastal watches or warnings in effect.
