Readers have said Christmas events in Coventry city centre are 'not as good as they used to be' as Coventry City Council announced there will be a Christmas-themed event for 2025 , but 'not in the form of a light switch on'.

The authority scrapped the annual light switch-on in 2024 due to increasing financial constraints. Instead, the council hosted The Festival of Christmas , which included festive performances, classic rides, and festive food and drink in Broadgate and Millennium Place.

Councillor Abdul Salam Khan said that this year's event will be 'full of festive magic' and will include Christmas favourites from elves and angels to Santa Claus. Further details are set to be announced about the event in the coming weeks.
