The Socceroos have been offered the chance to square off one more time with Lionel Messi and Argentina, the team that knocked them out of the last World Cup.
The catch? They’ll have to go to India to do it.
Multiple reports from Indian media outlets on Tuesday have claimed Australia have been locked in as Argentina’s opponents for a friendly match to be played in Kerala – India’s footballing hotbed – during the November international window.
“It will be Australia who will be playing against the Messi-led Argentinean national side,” an unnamed official attached to the Kerala Sports Minister, was quoted as saying by the Indo-Asian News Service.
Football Australia declined to comment on the reports, but sources with knowledge of negotiations who were not authorised to speak publicly about
