LOUISVILLE, Ky. — In the aftermath of Charlie Kirk’s assassination , President Donald Trump recently announced on social media his intention to label antifa — a left-leaning political movement — as a “major terrorist organization.”
Antifa is short for "anti-fascist," with the label being used on left-wing groups across the country, particularly during high-profile protests.
Attorney and former federal prosecutor Brian Butler called the president’s decision a significant development.
“It’s certainly a meaningful designation by the Trump administration to say, we’re going to look into violence and we’re going to see, is it organized? If so, what is that organization? And if there is an organization, where’s that funding coming from?” Butler said.
