A North Iowa man charged with stabbing a woman in Mason City last year was sentenced Monday to up to 20 years in prison.
Travun York, 20, Mason City, must serve at least half of that sentence before he is eligible for parole, according to Cerro Gordo County District Court documents.
He filed an Alford plea to willful injury and second-degree robbery, both Class C felonies, on July 3 in Cerro Gordo County District Court.
In an Alford plea, a defendant does not admit guilt but acknowledges sufficient evidence for a conviction may exist.
A related attempted murder charge has been dismissed as part of a plea agreement.
York was arrested for assaulting a female with a knife on the afternoon of May 13, 2024, at a residence on North Monroe Avenue in Mason City, according to court documents.
