Tripura now has six national highways as against only two before the year 2014. This was stated in the state assembly today by the chief minister Dr Manik Saha in reply to a ‘starred’ question-meant for direct reply within the house-from the young CPI (M) MLA Ramu Das. The chief minister furnished the reply in his capacity as minister for PWD.
Detailing his answer Dr Saha said that the six highways now are NH-08, NH-208, NH-208A, NH-108-A, NH-108-B and NH-44A. Before the year 2014 Tripura had only two national highways, NH-08 (198 KM between Churaibari and Agartala) and NH-44A (134 KM between Manu and Singlum). Te total length of the two highways then was 332 KM.
But after the NDA government had come to power in 2014 four more highways were declared for the state . They are : NH-208 (Kum
