FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. — An 18-year-old motorcyclist died Monday night after hitting a deer and then being hit by a car on State Road 100 in Flagler County, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

FHP said the incident happened at 9:39 p.m.

According to FHP, the 18-year-old was traveling westbound on State Road 100, just west of the Briarwood Drive intersection, when a deer ran in front of him, causing his motorcycle's front tire to strike it.

FHP said the teen was then ejected off his motorcycle, and landed in the left lane.

Shortly afterward, a 54-year-old man, who FHP said was "unaware" that the teen was lying in the road, struck him with his car.

FHP did not release the teen's identity, but said he was from Palm Coast.
