A man is behind bars after deputies say he opened fire on them during what appears to have been a swatting call early Tuesday morning.

Deputies were dispatched to the 18600 block of Atlantic Drive in Humble. When they arrived, 47-year-old Kenyon Levor Coleman was allegedly waiting for them in a wooded area, armed with an automatic rifle.

According to Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, Coleman fired at deputies as they pulled up. No deputies were injured. Officials believe the rifle jammed, preventing Coleman from clearing the weapon and firing additional rounds.
