A cancer doctor is urging men to keep a close eye on their toilet habits as prostate cancer is the most common male cancer in the UK, with around 55,000 new cases each year. It often has no symptoms at first, making early detection difficult.

Dr Jiri Kubes of the Proton Therapy Center said: “Many men with prostate cancer will have no symptoms until the cancer spreads to other parts of the body. But there’s currently no national screening for prostate cancer, so finding early cases is difficult.

“It’s for this reason it’s important men pay very close attention to any changes in their urinary habits. While they can often occur for innocent reasons, it still pays to know what’s happening in your body.”
