Glasgow men living in deprived areas are the most likely to die from alcohol related conditions.

The latest figures released by the National Records of Scotland show that the city had the highest death rate across the country, with 155 dying as a result of booze . And those living in the most deprived areas were 4.5 times more likely to die than those living in the least deprived areas in 2024.

Campaigners say that the booze related deaths are still 'far too high' despite a seven per cent decrease in 2024 to 1,185 registered in Scotland - the lowest since 2019. Around two-thirds of those who died were male – 801 men died compared to 384 females.
