Plans are underway to open a Smalls Sliders drive-thru restaurant within the West Grove development in McKinney.

McKinney City Council members approved a specific use permit for the restaurant during a Sept. 16 meeting . The permit is required for development of a drive-thru restaurant at the proposed location since the closest speaker box would be located 100 feet away from land zoned for residential uses.

McKinney’s development code requires 200 feet between a drive-thru restaurant’s speaker box and a single-family residential zone. City staff recommended approval of the item since the land, which is part of the Stonebridge Ranch community, is likely to remain undeveloped, according to a city document.
