Bruce Pearl, who coached the USI basketball team from 1992 to 2001, announced that he will step down from his current position as Auburn head coach, effective immediately.

He will become a special assistant to the athletic director.

Pearl led the USI Screaming Eagles to a D-II championship in 1995.

He compiled a 231- 46 record over 9 years at the helm.

Steven Pearl, Bruce’s son, will take over as head coach.
