A consultancy firm has been awarded an almost £750,000 contract to inspect schools covered by PPP deals before they are handed back to Glasgow City Council .

One primary school and 29 of the city's 30 secondary schools are managed by 3 ED Glasgow Ltd under a public-private partnership [PPP] contract.

As the deal comes to an end in June 2030, the council has appointed engineering, development and management consultancy Mott MacDonald to assess the buildings.

A council official said the company will examine the “condition of building fabric, general ground conditions and so on” to “make sure that the condition of these assets is of the appropriate standard” for the council, which will take over the management of the schools.
