Indian Railways has expanded its fleet with the rollout of Vande Bharat Express trains, now running 75 services across the country, though the northeast is yet to be covered.

These trains vary in speed and coach numbers depending on the tracks they run on. They have steadily gained popularity, evidenced by the fact that many routes now have occupancy rates exceeding 100%.

Dilip Kumar, Executive Director of Information and Publicity at the Ministry of Railways, shed light on the origins of the Vande Bharat Express. He shared that the first train commenced its journey between Delhi and Varanasi in February 2019 with 16 coaches.
