French President Emmanuel Macron found himself stuck in traffic in New York City on Monday night due to a motorcade for former President Donald Trump. In a moment captured on video, Macron called Trump to request that he "clear the road." The video, shared by a European news outlet, shows a police officer apologizing to Macron and informing him that a motorcade is en route.

Macron responded, "I don’t see it. Let me cross." While waiting, he decided to reach out to Trump directly. "Guess what? I’m waiting (on) the street because everything is frozen for you," he said, laughing during the call. The footage later shows Macron walking while on the phone and interacting with bystanders, including one man who kissed him on the forehead for a photo.

According to reports, Macron was on his way to the French embassy at the time. Both leaders were in New York for the United Nations General Assembly, which attracts numerous global leaders. Trump arrived in the city around 7:30 p.m. ET on Monday.

Earlier that day, France made headlines by recognizing Palestinian statehood, a move that contrasts sharply with the Trump administration's policies regarding the Middle East conflict. Trump is scheduled to address the UN on Tuesday morning and participate in various meetings before returning to the White House later that night.
