Former Democratic party presidential nominee Kamala Harris gave a lukewarm endorsement of mayor candidate Zohran Mamdani during a Monday night MSNBC interview with Rachel Maddow.
Harris told Maddow she’s optimistic about rising stars in her party, but curbed her enthusiasm when asked about “mainline Democratic shyness and agitation” about Mandami possibly becoming New York City’s next mayor.
“Look, as far as I’m concerned, he’s the Democratic nominee and he should be supported,” Harris said in a transcript rushed to national media Monday night.
Polling shows the 33-year-old State Assemblyman l eading incumbent Eric Adams, former governor Andrew Cuomo and Republican Curtis Sliwa with Election Day roughly six weeks away.
