PINAL COUNTY, Ariz. — Nerves on campus were rattled Monday after a student brought a loaded gun to a Pinal County elementary school.
According to the Pinal County Sheriff's Office, deputies were called to Copper Basin Elementary around 1 p.m. because an 8-year-old child brought a loaded 9mm handgun to school.
The third-grade student was allegedly showing the gun to friends, authorities said. A school employee reportedly saw the child showing the weapon and quickly intervened. Officials said the child never made any threats to students or staff.
