Filmmaker Edward Burns launched his career with the 1995 indie movie “ The Brothers McMullen ."
This fall, he’s continuing the story with “ The Family McMullen ,” a movie he filmed in New Jersey.
The sequel, which will be in theaters for one day next month (see details below), spent 19 days filming in Jersey in April and May, the state Economic Development Authority tells NJ Advance Media.
The production reported spending $8.4 million in the state and received a $3 million tax credit.
“ The Brothers McMullen ,” which Ed Burns wrote, directed and starred in, won the grand jury prize at the Sundance Film Festival in 1995 and the Independent Spirit Award for best first feature.
The movie, which grossed more than $10 million, is about three brothers from an Irish American family
