CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Does the Palmetto State have the best barbecue in the south? That opinion is better left up to you; however, a popular magazine has listed nearly a dozen barbecue restaurants in South Carolina among the best of the best.

Southern Living released its list of the Top 50 Barbecue Restaurants in the South, and not only does it include 11 locations in South Carolina, but City Limits Barbeque in West Columbia took the top spot.

Charleston is home to six of the state’s top barbecue restaurants, bolstering the Lowcountry’s vibrant culinary scene. Among the notable mentions are King BBQ and Rodney Scott’s Whole Hog BBQ, both located in Charleston.

The list includes Melvin’s BBQ just east of the Cooper.
