Donald Trump’s nearly 55-minute address to the United Nations General Assembly both appalled and raised fears about his sanity from some political observers, with notable former MSNBC host Joy Reid cutting to the chase and writing on Bluesky: “Are y'all listening to this Trump speech? This dude is out of his f—king mind.”

The address, which was slated to last only 15 minutes, was marred by a teleprompter that didn’t work initially, which led the president to bitterly complain about the inconvenience.

While speaking to the silent audience, the president lamented that he hasn’t gotten enough appreciation for his efforts, complained that allies aren't backing him, asked why the UN even exists, and touted personal achievements in the U.S. that would be of little interest to foreign diplomats.

Former State Department spokesperson Ned Price offered, “Let's not pretend this is a foreign policy speech or dignify it by calling it one. This is basically MAGA madlibs. Trump is speaking to his political base, hitting each of his campaign trail hits, while addressing a room of leaders who'd rather be just about anywhere else.”

“This is what giving Trump the honor of a second UK state visit achieved. Eight days later, Trump spews outright racist lies about our capital city on the world stage,” British journalist Adam Schwartz wrote.

Pointing to Trump claiming, “I'm really good at this stuff. Your countries are going to hell,” journalist Anne Applebaum drily observed, “People came from all over the world. They have serious problems to solve.”

Popular “Tom Tomorrow“ cartoonist Dan Perkins admitted, “God this is just humiliating to watch,” later adding, “really something about seeing him ramble incoherently at UNGA that drives home the sheer lunacy to which we have grown accustomed.”

“Watching Trump give this UN speech, the world thinks America has lost its mind. I do too,” columnist David Rothkopf wrote.

Former MSNBC host Joy Reid fired off a series of posts, writing, “I’m so embarrassed to be an American right now. Donald Trump is a senile old codger, standing before the United Nations, reading a speech clearly written by an alt right lunatic and a bunch of oil and gas lobbyists. Well done, U.S. voters. You really f—ked this one up,” adding, “This is the most pathetic human to ever taint the White House with his presence."
