Vancouver officials said Monday they are prepared to move forward with condemnation proceedings on a 4,529-square-foot piece of land needed for a traffic roundabout.
The Vancouver City Council held a public hearing on the issue during the council’s Monday night meeting.
Vancouver Streets and Transportation Manager Ryan Lopossa told the council that city staff has been working with a homeowners association that owns the property on the northwest corner of Southeast 29th Street and Southeast 176th Avenue and has offered the association $24,500 for the right of way needed to construct the roundabout.
The traffic infrastructure will serve the Vancouver Innovation Center , a 180-acre mixed-use development on the former Hewlett-Packard campus in east Vancouver, Lopossa said.
