CHARLES TOWN — Jefferson County Commission hosts a special meeting on Monday, Sept. 22 to hear from Jefferson County Professional Fire Fighters IAFF Local 5351 followed by the first Future of Fire Service meeting later that evening.

Jefferson County Professional Fire Fighters IAFF Local 5351 sent a formal letter to the commission voicing their concerns. James West, Matthew Locke and Scott Miller presented their thoughts that the county is blocking Emergency Services from hiring open positions due to budget concerns. They said this could lead to “Brown Out” of units, reduction of fire and EMS personnel and reduction of public outreach.
