The cyber crime police officer Uttarakhand Special Task Force (STF) arrested a man from Pune, Maharashtra, for allegedly duping a Dehradun resident of Rs 17.1 lakh through a matrimony site and WhatsApp. The accused, identified as Ramesh Bhati, was wanted in a 2021 case registered at the cyber crime police station in Dehradun.
According to senior superintendent of police STF Navneet Singh Bhullar, the accused contacted the victim after he registered on Bharat Matrimony and introduced himself as an officer of a reputed company.
He persuaded the victim to invest in Aquadin Herbal Oil and powder business schemes and obtained her personal and banking details under the pretext of completing transactions. Using the information, he transferred Rs 17.1 lakh fro
