Shillong, Sept 23: The Tour Guides Association of Meghalaya (TGAM) has expressed concern over a recent tourism-related issue that has raised questions about the state's reputation as a safe and responsible tourism destination.
In a press statement issued today, general secretary of the association Gerald Samuel Duia emphasized the importance of tourism to Meghalaya's economy and the livelihoods of thousands of families dependent on the sector.
He highlighted that incidents like the one reported can have direct consequences on the state's economy and the preservation of its unique cultural heritage.
The association believes that constructive dialogue, coordinated action among stakeholders, and policy clarity are essential to prevent such issues from recurring.
