BEAUFORT COUNTY, S.C. (WSAV) — The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office (BCSO) clarified Tuesday that reports of a shooting involving an officer on Beach City Road on Hilton Head Island are false.

According to a post on the Nextdoor platform's "Safety Alerts" feature, an officer was reportedly shot with a suspect fleeing into the woods.

The BCSO said the reports "are completely false." It further clarified there are no reported shootings in the area Tuesday, and no officers have been injured.
