DES MOINES, Iowa —

A state representative from northeast Iowa is launching a bid for Congress.

Rep. Shannon Lundgren, a Republican representing Iowa's 65th District, is in her fifth term in the Iowa House of Representatives. District 65 encompasses part of Dubuque County.

Lundgren announced Tuesday she will enter the race for Iowa's 2nd Congressional District. That race opened up after Republican incumbent Ashley Hinson declared her candidacy for U.S. Senate .
