COLUMBUS, Ohio — Giant Eagle is coming to downtown Columbus, where it will be housed in a new mixed-use development.

The development, The Peninsula Phase II, will be built near the corner of Broad and Belle streets between downtown and the Franklinton neighborhood. It will feature 250 apartments above an attached parking garage.

Back in May, Amy Taylor, the president of Downtown Columbus Inc., told 10TV’s Tara Jabour that the grocery store has been a long time in the making.

"I've been doing this for almost 20 years. People have said, 'Why don't we have a downtown grocery store?'" said Taylor.

According to a release from the nonprofit, the store will occupy the ground floor of the development.
